Virtually every mode of transportation can be found in the streets of Metro Manila. A minimum fare is charged and the total fare depends on the distance covered. Taxis and car-rentals remain the most unpleasant and problem-free mode of transport.
Car Rentals: Car rentals is easily accessible at airports, hotels and local independent services. Driving around the city is okay but problems like traffic and parking may need to be dealt with.
Taxis: Flag-down rate for an air-conditioned taxi is pegged at P35 on the meter and an add-on rate of P2 for every 500 meters to the final cost. No Regular taxis. Taxis can be found at major hotels and tourist restaurants or hailed on the street. Just make sure that the taxi meter is turned on by the driver.
Standard Public Transport: Air-conditioned as well as open window buses traverse the all major rodss like EDSA. There are also altenative options for mode of transport including the unique and colorful jeepney, built by Filipinos, the LRT, MRT, public utility tricycles (motorcycle and a side car) and pedicabs (bicycles with side cars).
The kalesa or karitela: These picturesque carriages pulled by horses, provides an exciting and interesting mode of traveling around the historical landmarks of the city of Manila such as Intramuros, Rizal Park, the Chinatown districts of Binondo and Ongpin, and Divisoria, considered as the center of night markets and bargain centers.
AVIS, Budget, Hertz and other major car rental: These Agencies have established officers in Metro Manila and offers a full line of vehicles from jeeps to limousines. Vehicle rental comes with a driver or without one. Personal driving can be done if a person has a valid foreign or international driver’s license.
Airplane or Ferryboat: Inter-island travel is provided by either an airplane or ferryboat. The country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines has flights to 43 major provincial airports. Services to more remote tourists destinations are carried out by Aerolift Philippines and Pacific Airways. The most recent introduction of the nautical highway has facilitated the transfer of goods from Luzon to Mindanao.

The LRT: For a price of P12, the LRT offers a fast and affordable way to go. It runs from Monumento to Baclaran. The route of the LRT is marked in many tourist maps.
The MRT: Another rail system developed in the Philippines, MRT stands for Metro Rail Transit. It passes along the busy thoroughfare of EDSA. The minimum fare is P10 per ticket. It will bring you around to your destination from North EDSA (gateway to the North) up to its final station along Taft Avenue in Manila. It provides easy access to the business districts of Makati and Ortigas Center.
